Hello. I am Rosalva Escobedo and I am an alumni, teacher and proud parent of a St. Columbkille student. I have been a part of the St. Columbkille community for many many years. I attended St. Columbkille when it served First through Sixth grades. I continued my catholic education at Holy Cross Middle School and St. Matthias High School. I then attended LA Trade Tech and East Los Angeles Community Colleges. Once I completed my general education courses I transferred to California State University, Los Angeles where I majored in Child Development.
I began my teaching career here at St. Columbkille for the 1999-2000 school year. I taught Kindergarten for four years. I then jumped to "the wonderful world" of Junior High teaching math for five years. Once there was an opportunity, I returned to primary teaching First Grade for four years. (I missed the little ones.) In 2012, there was a shift in teaching assignments and I returned to Junior High Math in the fall of 2012 and now completing my 2nd year. I am currently teaching Social Studies to our Jr. High students. Teaching these two grade levels have been a positive learning experience. I thank the support of Dr. Holyk-Casey and my former principals, Mr. Baxter, Mrs. Briceno and Ms. Rios.
We've had and have great students here at St. Columbkille. Within these 18 years I have had the opportunity to teach classmate's children, student's children, teach students a second time around, promoted my first Kindergarten class then again in Eighth grade and have been my daughter's teacher in First grade and in Junior High. I am a proud parent of a St. Columbkille alumni.
